Only a few weeks ago it was announced that the CGS was closing down immediately, leaving the teams and brands with basically nothing. The Counter-Strike team of compLexity had started to play Counter-Strike 1.6 again months ago already and can now focus on doing so in TeamEG, picking up Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert for Ronald "Rambo" Kim.
The team will be attending several events in 2009, but also the online leagues such as CEVO and the recently started ESL Extreme Masters America. But they removed Ronald "Rambo" Kim in order to pick up n0thing as Rambo did not fit in this team.
Commenting further on the organization's big announcement, Team EG Executive Director Alex Garfield shared, "This is obviously a very exciting day for the EG organization, as we're welcoming in a group of players who really do qualify as bona fide legends. We feel that combing them with Jordan, our impact player this year and one of the most exciting new talents in eSports, will truly help energize North American Counter-Strike." Garfield also added, "We hope that the team's rich history with Jason Lake and compLexity is always preserved in the minds of eSports fans around the world, as Jason is one of the true eSports pioneers and deserves only the highest level of respect. But we're equally excited for these players to begin writing a new chapter as members of Team EG."

ESWC loses NVIDIA as main sponsor.
17.12.2008 11:47 Uhr
The U.S. company had been ESWC's main partner since February 2008 and was the main reason behind this year's tournament taking place in San Jose, California, instead of Paris.
"NVIDIA’s logo has been removed from our online headers because NVIDIA, to date, will no longer be the ESWC worldwide and main sponsor for 2009,"
"However, NVIDIA will choose locally to support, or not, some ESWC preliminaries. We are also actually discussing of their support of the next ESWC Grand Final that will be organized at the end of June in Paris.
"This is not a secret that all the industries, and notably the ones which traditionally support E-sports, are right now dealing with a global crisis."
Despite this setback, Dallon is "confident" of the success of next year's event, to take place in Bercy, Paris, from June 26th-28th.
NoPression, looking towards 2009 with 3 new players.
17.12.2008 11:42 Uhr
NoPression has made a move to launch itself back into the competitive scene, after an internal dispute that left their WCG Canada representing team with only two members back in September.
Manager Marc-Andre "Shooter" Roby, commented on the proceedings.
"A couple months ago, it was announced that three players were leaving the team to move to another and be on their own. After winning a major event (WCG Canada), you never want something like that to happen to your team. voKal and I were talking everyday about rebuilding the team with a new roster, and that day is today."
The team is currently competing in the inaugural season of the ESEA League, and plans to compete in CEVO as well. Roby finishes with hopes of continued success, stating that "they will fight their best to keep the '#1 Canadian Team' title to Team NoPression, and hopefully bring in more results."
